Displacement wise, they are larger, but check the dimensions out of one sometime. They're pushrod engines, so they don't have big heads on them that make them really wide. The VG30DETT is very wide, it would be easier to fit a small block chevy engine under our hoods. The V8 would only be a little bit longer, with not nearly as many hoses, lines, and wires in the way.
